Workshop in Georgia: Highly
Pathogenic Avian Influenza
Outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI)
in various countries including Georgia underline the need
for veterinary services throughout the world to respond
to this highly contagious disease. Georgia has implemented
HPAI emergency offices and established a national contingency
plan against HPAI. The workshop will train the functioning
of these offices through practical exercises in order to
react adequately and timely to an outbreak of Avian Influenza.
Rural Development Project in Georgia
The objective of this project is to improve the productivity
and profitability of the private agriculture sector. This
would be achieved by facilitating the access of Georgia’s
mainly small and medium-scale farmers to commodity supply
chains, improving the competitiveness of agri-business
and the associated supply chains and strengthening the
capacity of selected agricultural and financial institutions
serving private sector agricultural market activity.
